Wine Bar George is expected to open later this year in Spring of 2018 and some exciting updates and news have been announced! The unique location will find a home at Disney Springs and will feature a breathtaking wine list along with small plates. One of the exciting new announcements is the addition of Executive Chef Ron Rupert.
“I’m thrilled that Ron is joining our team and I’m looking forward to working with him again,” Miliotes said. “Ron is incredibly creative, and his expertise will bring a menu that’s designed to complement the wine list. With our menu, guests will have the opportunity to explore endless food and wine pairings.”
Master Sommelier George Miliotes was part of the opening team at California Grill from 1995 to 2002 where he worked with Chef Rupert. Chef Rupert has worked in the culinary field at the Walt Disney World Resort since 1988 and has been part of the opening team at California Grill, Ariel’s, and Jiko – The Cooking Place (at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge respectively).
“The menu will include a selection of small plates, shareable plates, cheese and charcuterie boards, and desserts. Offerings will feature seasonally relevant items and everything will be made in-house,” Rupert said. “I’ve worked jointly with George to develop a menu that represents both global and local cuisine. Guests can expect to experience food that is familiar, yet new all at once.”
Guests will soon enjoy wine education at Disney Springs when Wine Bar George opens its doors to the new two-story 210-seat location. The gorgeous 6,000-square-foot restaurant will be reminiscent of a winemaker’s home estate.
“Guests will experience a feel reminiscent of the ‘Old World’ as if they are on the bottom floor of a gravity-flow winery surrounded by their best friends,” explains Miliotes. “The upstairs floor includes seating for groups of all sizes, space for private events and sweeping views of Disney Springs.”
We can’t wait to see Wine Bar George open its doors later this year, be sure to stay tuned for more information!
