Orlando chefs have come together with a challenge to create a signature dish that defines Orlando. Each dish in the competition must contain one key ingredient – local honey. Two Dish chefs from Epcot have teamed up on one stunning dish for the competition.
Chef Bobby Rivera Otero (sous chef at Le Cellier Steakhouse) and Chef Jason Stricker (pastry sous chef for Epcot) have created a Local Wildflower Honey-Marscapone Cheesecake with Orange Blossom Honey Ice Cream. The gorgeous dish is presented with fennel pollen meringue kisses and an orange-scented cookie with gold-flecked wildflower honey drizzled over the cheesecake and ice cream.
Orlando residents and visitors can vote to determine finalists during the competition (through November 9, 2017). A special judging panel will taste desserts from the finalists and announce a winner on December 7, 2017.
Did you know: Florida is one of the top five states in producing honey, and an incredible 17 million pounds of honey were produced last year!
