Jiko gets new chefs and a new menu at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Chef Daniel Sicilia and Pastry Chef Michael Craig have recently joined the Jiko culinary team and have created an almost all-new menu for the restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Jiko – meaning “cooking place” in Swahili – pays homage to the African theme with a beautiful dining room inspired by Disney’s The Lion King.
“Taste of Africa” is a guest favorite made in-house with pappadam, sesame fatir and flax-seed naan that is served with a variety of dips including hummus, green chermoula, goat butter and mango chutney. Manti Dumplings will accompany the appetizer menu dumplings filled with boar, bison and elk served with spicy tomato sauce and saffron yogurt.
The adventurous menu takes advantage of wood-burning ovens producing delicious flatbreads. An all-new bone-in short rib and filet will find a place on the menu with seasonal sides.
On the dessert menu guests will find Kilimanjaro – a Tanzanian chocolate mousse with pistachio financier, pink peppercorn meringue, cacao nib crunch and pineapple flavored with ras el hanour, a Moroccan spice blend. In addition to the Kilimanjaro, guests can find strawberry shortcake and sweet potato cheesecake that can be paired with teas and after-dinner drinks.
Jiko is also home to the largest offering of South African wines anywhere in the United States. Over 125 wineries showcase their vintages at Jiko, and Jiko was awarded the WIne Spectator’s Award of Excellence.
You can make a reservation for Jiko online or by calling 407-WDW-DINE.
